Unlimited mileage
Car hire at Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC): your car is waiting
Collect it straight after landing, no extras, no deposit, no paperwork faff
We bring the car right to the Arrivals hall at Alicante-Elche Airport. Step off the plane, give us a ring, and a few minutes later you're behind the wheel. Hire from PLN 59 a day, with no deposit, unlimited mileage and no surcharge for drivers under 25.
At most Spanish car hire desks, the extra charges only come out at the counter: a €800 to €2,500 hold on your card, a young driver surcharge for anyone under 25, a credit card requirement and mileage caps. You won't find any of that with us.
Everything Target Auto does on the Costa Blanca is available in three languages: Polish, Spanish and English. Your rental agreement, condition report and insurance terms come in whichever of the three you prefer. Pay with a standard debit or credit card, in euros or Polish zloty.
Target Auto Costa Blanca: contact and location
Our customer service point is in Torrevieja, where you can also hire a car locally. For flights into Alicante-Elche, we bring the car to the terminal, so there's no hunting around Arrivals for a rental desk.

What you get with Target Auto on the Costa Blanca
No deposit held on your card
Spanish car hire firms typically block €800 to €2,500 on your credit card. With us, it's zero. A debit or credit card payment is all it takes to get the keys. Exception: bookings under PLN 500 may require a deposit.
Unlimited mileage
Driving the whole coast, from Denia in the north to La Manga in the south? A trip up to Valencia? Murcia? Granada? Every kilometre is included in the price, with no excess mileage charges when you bring the car back.
Your debit card works
Most Spanish car hire companies insist on a credit card with enough available credit to cover the deposit hold. With us, debit cards (Visa Debit, Mastercard Debit) are fully accepted. The only condition: your booking must be paid online at least 3 days before collection.
No young driver surcharge
At standard car hire firms on the Costa Blanca, drivers under 25 pay a "young driver fee", usually €6 to €15 a day. At Target Auto, there's no such charge. You can drive from the age of 18, with no surcharges and no restrictions on engine size or car category.
Service in three languages
Polish, Spanish, English. Rental agreement, condition report and insurance terms in the language of your choice. Whether you speak to us in person or over the phone, there's no need for a translator.
Pay in EUR or PLN
Got a card from a Polish bank? You pay in zloty at our current rates. Using a euro account or a Spanish card? You pay in euros. Either way, you won't lose out to your bank converting the currency twice.
Free cancellation
No booking fee, no upfront payment. Cancel by email or phone whenever you like, and we'll send you a confirmation.
24/7 cover for arrivals
Ryanair landing at 2:30am? Wizz Air at 5:15am? We'll have the car there whatever the hour. Just give us your flight number when you book.

How collection works at Alicante Airport (ALC)
Once you've landed at Alicante-Elche, ring the number on your booking confirmation. One of our team will be waiting with the car outside the terminal, and handing over the keys, documents and condition report takes just a few minutes.
Step by step:
- Book online, adding your flight number and arrival time.
- You'll get a confirmation email with the local contact number, details of the driver bringing your car and the collection point.
- Once you're through Arrivals, give us a ring and we'll agree exactly where to meet (usually the "Kiss & Fly" zone or the short stay car park by the terminal).
- Take over the car and sign the condition report: you get the keys, the vehicle registration document, proof of third party insurance and your rental agreement in the language of your choice.
- Hit the road: take the roundabout outside the airport onto the N-332 or the AP-7, depending on where you're heading.
Returns work the same way in reverse. We agree a time ahead of your flight home, you drop the car off at the terminal, sign the return report and head off to check in.
Local hire in Torrevieja runs alongside this: if you live in or around Torrevieja, you can collect a car straight from our office on Av. Espuña.
Debit card instead of credit card? No problem
At Target Auto, a debit card (Visa Debit, Mastercard Debit) is all you need to hire a car. The only condition: your booking must be paid online at least 3 days before collection.
Standard Spanish car hire firms require a credit card with €800 to €2,500 of available credit for the deposit hold. With us, that requirement disappears. Any deposit hold on your card is released automatically once the car comes back in the agreed condition.
What you need to bring
Three things you need to drive away from ALC in a Target Auto car:
- A valid driving licence: Polish licences are fully accepted in Spain, no translation needed. Licence issued outside the EU? Please get in touch before booking.
- Photo ID: national ID card or passport.
- A payment card: credit or debit, Polish or foreign.
Driver age: 18 or over. No "young driver" surcharges, which are standard at most car hire firms on the Costa Blanca.
Cancellation: free of charge, right up to the last minute
Changing your plans costs nothing. We don't charge a booking fee or ask for any money upfront. Cancel by email or phone, and we'll confirm it back to you.
Unlimited mileage makes sense on the Costa Blanca
The Costa Blanca stretches along more than 200 km of coastline. Without a car, you'll see one resort at best.
Popular routes with Target Auto customers:
- Torrevieja → Benidorm → Calpe → Altea → Javea → Denia: a day on the coast, around 180 km each way.
- Alicante → Cartagena → La Manga → Murcia: the Murcia region, around 130 km.
- Alicante → Guadalest → Fuentes del Algar: inland, with waterfalls and a medieval village perched in the rock, around 80 km.
- Torrevieja → Elche → Alicante → Tabarca (by ferry): the UNESCO palm grove, Santa Barbara Castle and Tabarca island.
None of those kilometres costs you extra. You pay for the number of days, the car category and any extras you choose. Nothing else.
The booking process in detail
Three minutes online, a few minutes at collection.
- Online form. Dates, times and collection point (Alicante-Elche ALC / Torrevieja).
- Choose your car. City, compact, estate or superior. Filters and the full fleet: Browse our cars.
- Extras. Additional driver, extended cover, child seat, sat nav.
- Driver details. Full name, driving licence number, contact details, flight number and arrival time.
- Pay online. Polish or foreign card, in PLN or EUR.
- Confirmation. An email with the local contact number, your car details and the collection point at the terminal.
- Land in Alicante. Give us a ring once you're out of Arrivals.
- Collection at the terminal. Keys, condition report, documents and a quick run through the car.
- Hit the road. N-332 or AP-7, depending on where you're heading.
- Return at the agreed spot (ALC terminal or Torrevieja). Sign the report and off you go to catch your flight home.
Flight delayed? It won't cost you anything extra. We simply move your collection time: the time you give when booking is only a guide, and we keep an eye on your flight status.
Three ways to get cheaper car hire on the Costa Blanca
Book early, pick the right car for your route and make the most of our offers.
- Book ahead. The Costa Blanca's season runs almost all year round, and in July, August, the school holidays and around Easter, cars go fast. Booking a month ahead rather than last minute can save you as much as 25%.
- A car to suit your route. For pottering around Torrevieja and the nearby beaches, a Ford Fiesta or Skoda Citigo does the job. For the winding road from Calpe to Denia, a compact (Hyundai i30, Seat Ibiza) is worth it. For a fortnight's family holiday, go for an estate with a bigger boot.
- Seasonal offers and our loyalty scheme. Current discount codes: see our Offers page and our Facebook page. Returning customers get their own discounted price list.
The fleet: what you can choose from
Planning your trip from Alicante-Elche Airport, it's worth picking the right category:
-
City - Skoda Citigo, Opel Corsa, Ford Fiesta. Getting between your apartment, the beach and restaurants.
-
Compact - Skoda Fabia, Hyundai i30, Seat Ibiza. Full day trips: Benidorm, Guadalest, Elche.
-
Estate - Hyundai i30 Estate, Opel Astra Estate, Ford Focus Estate. A family of 4 or 5, plenty of luggage, a fortnight's stay.
-
Saloon - Seat Toledo, Fiat Tipo Saloon, Skoda Rapid, Renault Megane. Long motorway journeys (Valencia, Murcia, Andalusia).
-
Superior - Skoda Scala, Seat Leon, Fiat Tipo Hatchback. Comfort for longer stays and business trips.
Every car comes with: air conditioning (35°C is perfectly normal on the Costa Blanca in summer), ABS, ESP, 4 to 5 seats and third party insurance included.
Gearbox: manual or automatic.
Most popular on the Costa Blanca: Ford Fiesta (around town), Ford Focus Estate (families), Seat Leon (longer stays).
Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport (ALC): good to know
19,950,394 passengers in 2025, Spain's 5th busiest airport and the main gateway to the Costa Blanca. Around 90% of its passengers are international.
Handy facts before you fly:
- Location. ALC sits within the municipality of Elche, 9 km south west of Alicante city centre. It lies in the district (pedanía) of El Altet, which is where the informal name "El Altet airport" comes from, used by locals and plenty of holidaymakers alike.
- Official name: Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández. It honours the poet Miguel Hernández (1910 to 1942), who was born in Orihuela. The airport took the name in 2021.
- New terminal area. It officially opened on 23 March 2011. The building (which Aena calls the "Nueva Área Terminal") was designed to handle up to 20 million passengers a year, a ceiling the airport is now within touching distance of.
- Runway. A single runway, 10/28, 3,000 m long and 45 m wide. It handles a wide range of aircraft, from Ryanair jets to long haul charters.
- Main airlines. Ryanair, easyJet, Vueling, Wizz Air, Norwegian, Jet2 and TUI, with several of them running a base here.
- Routes from Poland. Direct flights from Warsaw, Kraków, Katowice, Wrocław, Gdańsk, Poznań, Rzeszów, Bydgoszcz, Łódź and Modlin. For several seasons now, Poland has been one of ALC's top 5 markets (alongside the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium).
- Monthly record. August 2025: over 2 million passengers in a single month, a first in the airport's history.
Getting to Alicante Airport and from the airport around the region
You can reach Alicante-Elche Airport on the AP-7 motorway or the N-332 main road. From Torrevieja it's about 45 minutes via the AP-7.
By car
- Main routes: the AP-7 motorway (quicker) or the N-332 main road along the coast (slower but scenic, past beaches and seaside towns).
- Which way once you leave the airport:
- Heading south (Torrevieja, Guardamar, La Mata, Orihuela Costa, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Punta Prima): roundabout after the airport → N-332 towards Santa Pola → AP-7 south.
- Heading north (Alicante centre, El Campello, Villajoyosa, Benidorm, Altea, Calpe, Javea, Denia): N-332 straight to Alicante or the AP-7 north.
- For Murcia, Cartagena and La Manga: AP-7 south.
- Airport parking: a dozen or so car parks, from short stay (by the terminal) to long stay (cheaper, with a free shuttle bus).
By bus
- C-6 (Alicante ↔ ALC): runs 24 hours a day, roughly every 20 minutes during the day. It leaves from Plaza del Mar in Alicante. Fare: €1.45 to €2.60.
- Torrevieja ↔ ALC (Costa Azul / Avanza): a dozen or so services a day, taking around 40 to 60 minutes, fare around €7 to €10. Departs from Torrevieja bus station (Calle del Mar 50).
- Benidorm ↔ ALC (Alsa): a direct service from Benidorm.
- Elche ↔ ALC: routes R10 and R11.
Taxi or private transfer
There's a taxi rank outside Arrivals. Expect to pay around €20 to Alicante and €60 to €80 to Torrevieja. A private transfer booked in advance often works out cheaper for a family of 3 or more.
By train
There's no direct rail link to ALC. The nearest station is Alicante Terminal (the main station), from where you'll need the C-6 bus or a taxi.
The Costa Blanca by car: what's worth seeing
The Costa Blanca is 200 km of coastline with over 300 days of sunshine a year. With a car, every major sight in the region is within reach on a day trip.
Within 30 minutes' drive of our Torrevieja base
- Laguna Rosa (Torrevieja's Pink Lake). Part of the Lagunas de La Mata y Torrevieja Natural Park (around 3,700 ha). Its colour comes partly from microorganisms, including the alga Dunaliella salina, and the lagoon is also home to the brine shrimp Artemia salina. Swimming isn't allowed (it's a working salt pan and a protected ecosystem), but there are walking trails and viewpoints all around. Just a few minutes' drive from Av. Espuña.
- La Mata and Guardamar del Segura. Blue Flag beaches, the Guardamar dunes (the only coastal forest on the Costa Blanca) and Alfonso XIII Park.
- Orihuela Costa: La Zenia, Playa Flamenca, Cabo Roig, Punta Prima. The best known beaches on the southern Costa Blanca. La Zenia Boulevard shopping centre is one of the largest in Spain.
- Playa de Los Locos and Playa del Cura: Torrevieja's own two flagship beaches.

The Costa Blanca by car: drive times and day trips
Around an hour's drive each way
- Alicante. Santa Barbara Castle on Mount Benacantil, the Explanada de España (the seafront promenade laid with 6.5 million mosaic tiles) and Barrio Santa Cruz (the old quarter with its whitewashed houses).
- Elche. Palmeral de Elche: a historic network of palm groves and irrigation channels, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. Plus the Miguel Hernández House Museum, dedicated to the poet the airport is named after.
- Cartagena. A Roman theatre from the 1st century BC, discovered in 1988, a naval port and an atmospheric old town.
- Murcia. Santa María Cathedral, the Casino and great food (the huerta, known as Europe's vegetable garden).
1.5 to 2 hours' drive
- Benidorm. The "Manhattan of the Mediterranean": skyscrapers, the long Levante and Poniente beaches, Aqualandia water park and Terra Mitica.
- Guadalest. A medieval village built into the rock, one of the most photographed in Spain. Views over the Sierra de Aitana and a turquoise reservoir.
- Calpe. The Peñón de Ifach, a rock rising 332 metres straight out of the sea and the symbol of the Costa Blanca.
- Fuentes del Algar. Natural waterfalls and rock pools, perfect for a dip in crystal clear water.
- Javea and Denia. Charming harbour towns, Mediterranean food and, from Denia, ferries to the Balearics.
Day trips (2 to 3 hours each way)
- Valencia. The City of Arts and Sciences, the cathedral with the Holy Grail and the Mercado Central. Around 2 hours' drive on the AP-7.
- Granada. The Alhambra and the Albaicín. A longer drive (around 4 hours), so it's best done as an overnight trip.
- Alicante → Tabarca (by ferry). The only inhabited island in the Valencian Community, once a fortress against Barbary pirates.
FAQ: car hire at Alicante-Elche Airport
-
What documents do I need?
A valid Polish driving licence (accepted in Spain without translation), a national ID card or passport, and a payment card. That's it.
-
Do you take a deposit?
In most cases, no. Paying by credit or debit card is enough. Exception: bookings under PLN 500 may require a deposit.
-
Where do I collect the car after landing?
Right outside the terminal at Alicante-Elche Airport. Once you're out of Arrivals, ring the number on your booking confirmation and one of our team will be waiting with the car in the collection area. The whole handover (keys, condition report, documents) takes just a few minutes.
-
Can I hire a car in Torrevieja too?
Yes. We also offer local hire from our office at Av. Espuña 37 1136, so if you're already in Torrevieja (say, staying in an apartment for a longer break), you can collect a car straight from us without trekking out to the airport.
-
Is there a young driver surcharge?
No. At standard car hire firms on the Costa Blanca, drivers under 25 pay an extra €6 to €15 a day. At Target Auto, that charge simply doesn't exist: drive from 18, with no surcharges and no restrictions on car category.
-
What does extended cover include?
It waives your excess for partial damage. It doesn't cover tyres, wheels or the interior. It applies to one claim, and any further damage during the same hire is charged in line with our terms and conditions. Third party liability insurance is always included in the price.
-
How much does car hire on the Costa Blanca cost?
From PLN 59 a day (city car, outside peak season). The price depends on the model, the length of hire and the time of year:
- 24 hours: PLN 59 to 399
- Weekend: PLN 199 to 599
- A week in high season (July/August): quote on request
- A month: a much lower daily rate, just ask via the form
-
Can I collect a car after a night flight?
Yes, 24/7. Just confirm your flight number and arrival time. Charter and budget flights often land between 10pm and 6am, and we'll have the car there with no extra charge for unsociable hours.
-
Do you have child seats?
Yes. Under Spanish law, a child seat is compulsory until a child is 135 cm tall. We have them in three weight groups (0 to 13, 9 to 18 and 15 to 36 kg). Just add one to your booking.
-
Do you accept foreign cards?
Yes: all Visa and Mastercard cards (credit and debit) from banks in Europe and beyond. We don't add any fees on our side.
-
Which languages do you speak?
Polish, Spanish and English. Your rental agreement, condition report and insurance terms are available in the language of your choice. Support over the phone and in person is available in all three, too.
-
Can I drive to Portugal or France?
Yes, as long as you tell us in advance. Taking the car outside Spain means agreeing the insurance cover and getting a green card. Let us know when you book, not after the fact. Portugal is about 8 to 9 hours' drive from Torrevieja via Seville, and France is about 8 hours via Barcelona.
-
Can I drive into Gibraltar?
Yes, but taking a hire car into Gibraltar requires a special declaration at the border (Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory and isn't part of the Schengen area). We sort this out individually before you book.
-
What about parking in Spanish towns?
Alicante, Torrevieja, Benidorm and other larger towns have pay and display zones (zona azul: blue lines on the road, paid at the machine). In high season, finding a space in town centres can be tricky, so it's worth looking for underground car parks (around €1 to €2 an hour, €15 to €20 a day). When you book, we'll ask about your usual routes and suggest where to park.
-
What should I do if I have a bump or break down?
Call +48 503 502 642 (the number on your booking confirmation). For a minor bump in Spain, you fill in a Declaración amistosa (the European accident report form), and there's one in the car in Polish and Spanish. For a serious accident, call 112 (the universal emergency number in Spain for police, ambulance and fire).
